The Gibson Brothers are a brother trio from Martinique that had some worldwide disco hits around 1980. There is also a country band under the same name .

Band history

Christian, Alex and Patrick Gibson moved from their homeland to Paris, where they played as the Martinique Express in 1975 . David Vangarde, who also looked after the disco band Ottawan , took them on as a manager. The Gibson Brothers had their success with disco salsa. In 1976 her debut single Come to America appeared , which she already made known beyond the French borders.

The brothers had their first major international success the following year with Non-Stop Dance . The song was a number 1 hit in neighboring Belgium and the Netherlands and sold over a million copies in total.

The Gibson Brothers then went on tour around the world. In 1979 the single Cuba followed . The Spanish-language hit was her international breakthrough and hit the charts in Europe and the US. The single sold four million times.

After Ooh What a Life , which was particularly successful in Great Britain, her biggest hit followed in early 1980. With Que sera mi vida (If You Should Go) they made it into the top 10 worldwide and after Cuba they also had their second top 10 club hit in the USA. The title has sold over 5 million times. The successor single Mariana was able to build on it, even if it was less successful, but after that the success waned significantly. From the 1980s to the 1990s they had one or two successes in individual countries, but there was no longer a big hit.

In 2011, the duo released a remix of their successful single Cuba in collaboration with the two disc jockeys DJ Rebel and Robert Abigail. The song was released on the German record label Kontor Records and reached number 55 in the German single charts. In Belgium the remix made it into the top ten. Christian Gibson was also involved in the accompanying music video, which has already been clicked a million times.
