Giants of Knowledge is (after A Brief History of Time and The Universe in a Nutshell ) the third book by the British physicist Stephen Hawking .

The five "greats" who have shaped our worldview the most are:

• Nicolaus Copernicus
• Galileo Galilei
• Johannes Kepler
• Isaac Newton
• Albert Einstein

Stephen Hawking gives a brief biography for each of these five people. Indications of the genius of the giants are given by the selection or excerpts of the works of those people.
