gigolo

A gigolo is a dancer , a male escort service ( gentleman host , see also male prostitution ) or a man who usually has a sexually dominated long-term relationship with a significantly older woman and is financially supported by her. The term possibly originated at the beginning of the 20th century as a regression from the French gigolette for a young woman who is hired as a dancer (from the old French giguer "to dance"). The term has also been proven as a loan word in English since the 1920s .

In the history of music , the term is known from the hit Schöne Gigolo, poor Gigolo (text: Julius Brammer , music: Leonello Casucci , 1929).
