Harald Leibrecht
Harald Leibrecht (born October 14, 1961 in Evanston, Illinois ) is a German politician ( FDP ).
Life and work
Leibrecht is the son of the German-American theologian, university professor and entrepreneur Walter Leibrecht . According to the general education Harald Leibrecht graduated in International Business Administration (International Business) in Strasbourg , Heidelberg , London and the US, he with the completion of a Master of Business Administration ended (MBA / USA). Leibrecht is an entrepreneur. In addition to his job, he has been involved in the cultural and social field for many years.
Leibrecht is married and has four children.

Political party
He has been a member of the FDP since 1984. Leibrecht was chairman of the FDP district association in Ludwigsburg and treasurer in the FDP district association for the Stuttgart region . He was a member of the presidium and the state board of the FDP Baden-Württemberg .
MP
Leibrecht was a member of the German Bundestag from 2002 to 2013 . Here he was chairman of the Baden-Württemberg regional group in the FDP parliamentary group . Leibrecht was a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, a member of the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Development and the sub-committees for Foreign Cultural and Educational Policy, the United Nations, Disarmament and Arms Control. He was spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group for foreign cultural policy and from 2009 to July 2011 he was development policy spokesman and chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the development committee. Leibrecht was also co-chair of the Tibet Discussion Group in the German Bundestag. Furthermore, during his years as a member of the German Bundestag, he was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, based in Strasbourg.
Leibrecht ran again as a direct candidate for the FDP in the constituency of 266 Neckar-Zaber in the 2009 Bundestag election and achieved 14.7 percent of the first votes. He was always drawn into the Bundestag via the state list of Baden-Württemberg .
After he was unanimously re-elected as constituency candidate for the upcoming federal election in 2013 in July 2012 , he announced on August 14, 2012 that he would not stand and be withdrawing from politics.
Transatlantic Relations Coordinator
From 2011 to 2014 Leibrecht was the coordinator for transatlantic relations in the Federal Foreign Office . The focus of his work in the Federal Foreign Office was on civil society relations with the USA and Canada in the fields of culture, education and science.

Leibrecht is u. a. Member of the Rotary Club Bietigheim-Vaihingen, German-Arab Friendship Society , Atlantik-Brücke, German Atlantic Society eV, German Society for Foreign Policy, Theodor Heuss Freundeskreis eV, Children a Chance eV Ingersheim. In 2009 he was called to the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany .
Controversy
In 2017 the " Paradise Papers " announced that Leibrecht was co-owner of the now sold Wickham Court Castle in southern England, which was registered with a mailbox company in the tax haven of Jersey . Leibrecht defended this construction, but gave no details of the purpose.
