Gila Schauer

Gila Schauer (* 20th century ) is a German linguist. She has been Professor of English and Applied Linguistics at the University of Erfurt since 2012 .

Life

Gila Schauer received her PhD in English Linguistics from the University of Nottingham in England in 2005 with a thesis on the pragmatic development of university students. She had previously completed a Master of Arts in English with distinction at the same institution .

From 2005 to 2012 Gila Schauer was a lecturer in the linguistics department at Lancaster University . There she was also director of the university-wide English program for academic purposes (English for Academic Purposes - EAP) from 2005 to 2010.

In 2012 she returned to Germany as professor for English and applied linguistics at the University of Erfurt. In the same year she took over the management of the language center at the University of Erfurt, which she held until 2014. In 2017 she took over the office of dean of the Philosophical Faculty, which she held until 2019.
