The Gilera Saturno 500 is a sports motorcycle by the Italian manufacturer Gilera , which was built from 1988 to 1991.

technology

The water-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with four-valve DOHC control and a Dell'Orto PHM-40 VS carburetor was integrated into the tubular space frame, which is open at the bottom . The power was transmitted to the rear wheel via a five-speed gearbox. The chassis geometry with a short wheelbase (1410 mm), short caster in connection with 17 inch tires in the dimensions 110/70 (front) and 140/70 (rear) helped the 165 kg machine to be handled perfectly. Painted in red with a rounded half-shell cladding, the Saturno was a “technical gem” at that time, which was delivered at a handsome price of DM 11,500. Well-preserved models are now (2014) traded for this sum - but in euros.
