Gilly Salmon

Gilly Salmon (* 1949 ) is an Australian educator. She develops learning scenarios and instruments around the topic of "digital learning".

Life

Salmon began her career at the UK Open University Business School (Salmon, 2013, para. 1–4). She taught as a professor of e-learning and learning technologies at the University of Leicester in the UK . There she was also chairman of the “Beyond Distance Research Alliance” and the “Media Zoo”. Salmon was Executive Director and Professor of "The Future of Learning" at the Australian Digital Futures Institute at the University of Southern Queensland , Australia.

In 2001 she was the founding director of All Things In Moderation. In January 2012 she was appointed Vice Chancellor for Learning Transformation at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne , Australia , and in October 2014 she was named Vice Chancellor for Educational Innovation at the University of Western Australia.

In July 2017 she will move to Liverpool University as Professor of Innovation and Transformation.

Gilly Salmon researches and publishes in the field of innovation and change processes in higher education under the special aspect of technology-based learning. Through her research in the field of online learning, she has gained international renown. It develops courses of study and teaching methods that use technology innovatively for learning and teaching.
