The Swinburne University of Technology is a university in Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria .
It was founded in 1992, but the roots can be traced back to a technical college from 1908. It is named after George Swinburne . More than 42,000 students are enrolled, and around 23,000 students study in the distinct associated tertiary education sector (Technical and Further Education TAFE).
Around 1,300 (2007) students are enrolled at the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus in Kuching , the capital of the State of Sarawak in Malaysia .
