The Charles Sturt University (CSU) is a public university in Australia , spread over ten locations (mainly in the rural part of New South Wales , but also in Victoria , Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory ). It was created in 1989 from the merger of several colleges and is named after the British explorer Charles Sturt .
The CSU is known for its wide range of distance learning and is one of the leading providers in this area nationwide. The CSU has earned a good reputation in the fields of media and communication, art, viticulture (National Wine and Grape Research Center), agriculture, nursing, radiography, didactics and accounting. The university has its own vineyard, which produces award-winning wines.
