The Edith Cowan University (ECU) is an Australian university in Crawley in Perth , Western Australia (West Coast), which in 1991 was established. It is one of the younger universities in Australia.

The college was founded in 1991, but the college dates back to 1902. The college was named after Edith Dircksey Cowan , who was the first member of an Australian parliament.
The ECU is a university devoted to applied teaching and research. There are close ties to industry and business, government agencies, research institutes and other universities. Of the 23,000 students, 3,500 are foreign.
More than 330 courses are offered at five faculties. The “ECU School of Communications” is one of the largest and most renowned in Australia. The " Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts " enjoys a good reputation internationally. The studies "Wine Marketing" and "Surf Science and Technology" are internationally known.
The university is spread over the locations in Joondalup City and Mount Lawley in Perth, as well as the young, modern South West Campus in Bunbury , 200 km south of Perth.
