Coordinates: 31 ° 44 ′ S , 115 ° 46 ′ E The City of Joondalup is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of Western Australia . Joondalup belongs to the metropolis of Perth , the capital of Western Australia. The area is 99 km² and has about 154,000 inhabitants (2016).
Joondalup is on the west coast north of the Swan River approximately 15 to 30 km northwest of Perth city center . The seat of the City Council is in the Joondalup district, where around 9,000 people live (2016).

The Joondalup Council has 13 members, twelve councilors are elected by the residents of the six wards (two each from North, North Central, Central, South-East, South-West and South Ward). The mayor (mayor) and council chairman is also elected by all residents of the city.
