Gino Leineweber

Gino Leineweber (born September 17, 1944 in Hamburg ) is a German writer .

Life

Gino Leineweber comes from a merchant family. From 1972, he initially worked as a tax consultant in his own practice, most recently in Hamburg-Rotherbaum. He gave up this activity in 1998 to work as a writer from then on. From 2003 to 2008 he also worked as an editor for the quarterly journal Buddhistisches MONTEL , which was published by the Buddhist Society Hamburg. He published his first books in 2002. From 2003 he was chairman of the Hamburg Authors' Association (HAV). He gave up this office in 2015 and was elected honorary chairman by the members of the association. Since 2013 he has been President of the international association Three Seas Writers 'and Translators' Council (TSWTC) based in Rhodes, Greece. He is a member of the Hamburg Authors' Association, the Association of German Writers and the PEN Center for German-Speaking Authors Abroad (Exil-PEN). Since 2005 he has been Deputy Chairman of the Irmgard Heilmann Foundation in Hamburg. He is also chairman of the jury for the Hannelore Greve Literature Prize.

Gino Leineweber was a member of the deputation of the Hamburg tax authority from 1971 to 2002 and a member of the deputation of the Hamburg cultural authority from 1991 to 2015.

In 2009 Gino Leineweber became the first chairman of the Buddhist Maha Viahara e. V. (ex Buddhist Vihara Hamburg e.V.) who has been running a Buddhist temple in the Theravada tradition in Schneverdingen since 2014.

Gino Leineweber is a writer of short stories, biographies, poetry and travel novels. In his essays he mainly deals with the topics of flight, exile and immigration. In 2011 he and four other writers founded the publishing expeditions, the main purpose of which is to publish e-books on the author's backlist.
