Giorgos Sisilianos

Giorgos Sisilianos ( Greek Γιώργος Σισιλιάνος also transcribed as Yorgos Sicilianos , born August 29, 1920 in Athens ; † March 29, 2005 ) was a Greek composer.

Sisilanos studied at the Conservatories of Athens, Rome and Paris as well as with Walter Piston , Boris Blacher and Vincent Persichetti . He was head of the music department of the Greek Broadcasting Corporation, later Secretary General of the Greek Academy of Music and Chairman of the Greek Society for Modern Music.

He composed two ballets, a symphony, an orchestral concerto, a concerto for double string orchestra and percussion, a concerto for percussion and orchestra, a cello concerto, chamber music works, cantatas and drama music.
