Giovanni Cavino (* 1500 in Padua ; † 1570 ) was an Italian die cutter and medalist from Padua.

Together with the scholar Alessandro Bassiano , Cavino invented and created various replicas of ancient coins called Paduan . Since these coins were free replicas of ancient originals, they are not real forgeries. These free interpretations of ancient originals corresponded to the zeitgeist of the reception of ancient works of art. The stamps of his works came into the possession of the Bibliothèque nationale de France Paris . From this lead shots were made for various museums .
