Giovanni Matteo Contarini († 1507 ) was a Venetian cartographer .

Contarini put together a famous map of the world that was engraved by the Florentine engraver Francesco Rosselli in 1506. The Contarini-Rosselli world map is the oldest surviving map produced by a printing process, on which part of the American continent is depicted. The only known copy of the map is kept in the British Library .

Giovanni Matteo Contarini was a member of the Venetian patrician family of the Contarini . He was the second son of Marco Contarini di Ruggero from the district of San Cassian (San Cassiano).
