A Girsack (also Girsac ) is a plastic net in which fruits and vegetables such as citrus fruits, potatoes or onions are packed and sold. In contrast to the bare net, the Girsack has a banderole usually labeled with product information and advertising, on the top of which there are two holes for carrying.
The term is not used colloquially, but has been introduced in numerous languages (English, French, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Dutch, Polish) in the technical jargon of the packaging industry and the grocery trade. Related names that are not widely used but are used by individual manufacturers or registered as trademarks are Girfilm (for the banderole) and Girplus (for machines for the production of such packaging and for the packaging itself).
