Gisela Derpsch (born September 16, 1898 in Cologne ; † June 30, 1984 there ) was a German singer .

Life

Gisela Derpsch studied from 1918 to 1921 at the Cologne Music Academy, then from 1921 to 1923 privately with Eugen Robert Weiß in Munich. The soprano did not appear in the opera, but limited her career to the concert, where she was particularly successful as an oratorio singer. She was friends with Hans Pfitzner , as evidenced by an extensive correspondence from the period from 1930 to 1949, which is now kept in the Bavarian State Library. Among other things, she sang in the world premiere of his choral fantasy Das dunkle Reich (1936); he dedicated his earlier six youth songs (1884–1887) for high voice and piano to her. She was married to the conductor and composer Erich Kraack (1898–1975), with whom she also appeared occasionally.
