Gish (mythology)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gish is the name of a war god of the Kati Kafir and Prasun Kafir in Kafiristan in the Hindu Kush .

He was born to the demoness Utr , who carried him out for 18 months. Already at this time he began to speak to his mother out of her body and commissioned her to dig the core of a walnut into the ground, from which a tree with 18 branches would sprout, only then could it be born.

In the meantime, Gish broke out of her belly fully grown and then sewed it together with a steel needle. By means of a magical potion, he completely healed the mother and also imparted the gift of wisdom to her . The latter then collected the walnuts from the tree and gave them to the warriors for food.

Gish is said to have carried a magical spear that should be able to move mountains as easily as it was possible for him to produce food.
