As grid crosses in is mapping a rectangular system of crosses called. These marks are printed at constant intervals (e.g. 100 m × 100 m ( hectare marks) or 1 km × 1 km), which is usually done on the same printing plate as the " situation ". Usually they represent the intersection of integer coordinate lines . The grid crosses serve on the one hand to facilitate measurements (see cartometry ), on the other hand to control the map scale .
