Smoothing choke

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In electrical engineering, a smoothing choke is a choke that is connected in series with the load resistor to reduce the residual ripple in a rectifier circuit. For power supply systems with mains frequency (in Europe this is usually 50 Hz) it must have a value of at least 100  mH in order to have a sufficient effect.
