Glow boats {made of corundum} in different sizes.

Glow boats are open-top laboratory devices with a useful volume of a few ml . They allow solid substances to be introduced into combustion tubes and are also used as reaction vessels in the chemical laboratory , e.g. B. in fused-salt electrolysis or when burning sodium . It is used as a reaction vessel in the combustion tube especially when one wants to investigate changes in the mass of the solid sample caused by chemical reactions (between the gas phase and the solid sample in the glow boat).

Glow boats are mostly made of ceramic materials and are glazed and unglazed on the market.
