The Glanzdrongo ( Dicrurus atripennis ) is a species of bird from the family of Drongos .
It occurs in Africa in Equatorial Guinea , the Democratic Republic of the Congo , Ivory Coast , Gabon , Ghana , Guinea , Cameroon , Liberia , Nigeria , the Republic of the Congo , Sierra Leone , Togo and in the Central African Republic .
The distribution area includes primary forest and old secondary forest .

The gloss drongo is 21 to 24 cm tall and weighs 35 to 47 g. It is solid black with a characteristic steel-green sheen, and appropriately for its name, it is the most shiny drongo in Africa.

The male is described as joyful and noisy, while couples perform a duet of loud, sharp tones and melodic whistles to delimit the territory.
The species is monotypical .
Way of life
The diet consists mainly of 5 to 6 cm large insects .
The breeding season is between August and January.

The stock is not considered to be at risk ( least concern ).
