Equality (social origin)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An equality with regard to the social origin means that no one because of his social origin may be disadvantaged. It is provided for in Germany in Article 3 Paragraph 3 of the Basic Law . The principle of non-discrimination was confirmed by the proclamation of the Charter of Fundamental Rights in December 2000 , according to which, in addition to the six grounds of discrimination listed in Article 13 of the EC Treaty , seven additional grounds are listed, including social origin.

However, there is a lack of implementation of the ban on discrimination. Neither in the education sector nor in other areas are there any guidelines or legal measures aimed at eliminating the proven educational disadvantage.

Since the Amsterdam Treaties, there is no longer a passage in the Anti-Discrimination Act that outlaws social origin as a ground of discrimination.
