Slide hammer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The slide hammer , also known as an extraction hammer, is a tool for straightening dented metal sheets . The slide hammer consists of a shaft on which a bushing can be moved back and forth between two stops. Behind the stops, the ends of the slide hammer can be used to clamp glue sticks or wire pins or to mount hooks. The pins are glued or welded onto the dented sheet metal. In this way, a tensile force can be exerted on the sheet metal. The bush of the slide hammer is moved on the shaft against the stops until the slide hammer has smoothed the dent.
