description

Glenmayne House is isolated on a hilltop off the A7 on the left bank of the Tweed a few hundred meters south of Galashiels. The three-story building is designed in the Scottis-Baronial style. Its floor plan is almost square. A massive five-story tower emerges on the northeast-facing front. At its foot is the arched entrance portal with a slab embedded above it. The arched window above has a semicircular cantilevered balcony. A corner tour with a conical roof pierces the surrounding parapet.

The other parts of the building are deliberately designed asymmetrically. Windows are partially coupled and worked with stone window posts. Wings emerge at different times. Corner tours protrude from several edges. All roofs are covered with slate.
