The river Tweed ( Engl. River Tweed ) is 156 km long and flows mainly through the region Scottish Borders in Scotland . It rises near Tweedsmuir and drains the entire border region. Later it forms the borderline between Scotland and England over a distance of 27 kilometers . It is also known as a fishing water for salmon .

The Tweed flows through the cities of Peebles , Galashiels , Melrose , Kelso , Coldstream and finally through Berwick-upon-Tweed , where it flows into the North Sea.
