Global data synchronization network

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The global data synchronization network ( English Global Data Synchronization Network , shortly GDSN ) is an Internet-based, globally used system. GDSN guarantees that the data exchanged between trading partners complies with the GS1 standards applicable worldwide .

Business partners are connected to the GS1 Global Registry via a network of interoperable and certified data pools. The data pools contain the master data of local trading partners, while the GS1 Global Registry as a central directory lists in which data pool the master data you are looking for can be found.

The network is used to exchange and synchronize standardized article master data within the supply chain between trading partners.

Global identification numbers

The Global Location Number (GLN) and the Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) are the global identification numbers within the GDSN. The GLN is the code for companies, while the GTIN is used to uniquely identify commercial items or to list their properties.
