Cloche hat
The bell hat (or French cloche "bell") was a bell-shaped lady's hat with a narrow, curved edge, in contrast to the rimless pot hat .
It came into vogue in the 1920s and matched the sleek hairstyles of the time, especially the then fashionable bob cut . To emphasize the eyes, it was carried low over the forehead, which obstructed the view and had to be compensated for by tilting the head back. Alternatively, the front edge was bent up.
The cloche hat reappeared in the 1950s and in the form of a fashionable knitted hat in the 1970s.
