The Gnadenkirche was a Protestant church in the north of Essen . It was built from 1957 to 1959, profaned in 2002 and abandoned in 2008.

history

The foundation stone of the church was laid in 1957. The church building was profaned in October 2002 due to damage in the mountains . The demolition followed in January 2008. The church building was completely demolished except for the tower.

The largest of the three bells found its new place in front of the parish hall on Zwinglistraße. The middle bell was placed near the stump of the tower. The smallest bell has probably disappeared over time because of its metal value.

Previous construction

The foundation stone of the previous building with 800 spaces was laid on September 29, 1904, the inauguration on March 15, 1906.

War damage, mountain damage and sponge infestation led to its laying down in February 1954.
