The Adelaide Festival Center , or AFC for short , is the first multifunctional art and culture complex in Adelaide , Australia .
history
The AFC was built in 1973 and three months before the Sydney Opera House , and opened on June 2, 1973. The building complex consists of a total of six different event buildings, which are mainly used for concerts and art exhibitions as well as theater performances. The Festival Theater is the largest theater in Adelaide and holds 2000 people. During his Journeyman World Tour , world star Eric Clapton performed in front of a sold-out audience of 4,000 people in the building for two days. The Dunstan Playhouse holds 620 and was opened in 1974. Her Majesty's Theater was built in 1913 and holds 1009 visitors. The Space Theater has a capacity of 300 seats, while The Amphitheater has a capacity of 600 people. The Artspace Gallery is designed for art exhibitions.
