Gold's Gym International, Inc. is an international gym chain . In 2004 it was bought by TRT Holdings, Inc. for approximately $ 154 million . In 2020 it was taken over by the Rainer Schaller Group (RSG).

history

The first branch was opened in 1965 by Joe Gold in Venice Beach , California . Gold's Gym became known, among other things, through the film " Pumping Iron " from 1977, in which the main characters (with the exception of Lou Ferrigno ) can be seen training in the original Gold's Gym in various scenes . Gold's Gym now has around 660 studios all over the world (as of 2020).

During the Covid-19 pandemic , the fitness chain had to file for bankruptcy and was taken over for 100 million dollars by the RSG Group, which also includes McFit.
