Golden Games was a German computer game company based in Hanover . The company was founded in 1986 by Dieter Eckhardt and Holger Gehrmann (1968–2008) and existed until around 1988.
Dieter Eckhardt, who was 19 at the time, was mainly responsible for product management. Holger Gehrmann, then 18 years old, developed a significant part of the software . The distribution was mainly with the company Micro-Händler, an offshoot of the company Rushware , Kaarst (today THQ ). Despite a few successful games, the company ran into serious financial difficulties in 1987 due to serious management errors. The two founders fell out and Holger Gehrmann left the company to found reLINE Software with a new partner .
Dieter Eckhardt continued doing business with new partners until the end of 1987 production and sales had to be finally stopped. A total of about 30 games were published, with Hollywood Poker being the most famous and reaching a circulation of more than 100,000.
