Gonzalo de Alvarado
Gonzalo de Alvarado was a Spanish conquistador of the early 16th century. His exact life dates are not known. Gonzalo was a younger brother of Pedro de Alvarado and a very good swordsman. Both men took part in the conquest of Mexico , Guatemala and El Salvador .
Although he was a senior officer in the Mexica campaign, his name has always been overshadowed by the great personality of Pedro de Alvarados.
Pedro de Alvarado died on July 4, 1541 in the Mixtón War . Previously he appointed Gonzalo de Alvarado to command the force in Guatemala. In 1525 the conquest of El Salvador was complete. In the same year Gonzalo de Alvarado founded the city of San Salvador .
