Goodgame Big Farm is a browser-based multiplayer online building game from the German game developer Goodgame Studios , which was released in October 2012. Today the game has more than 35 million registered players worldwide and is available in 20 languages.

Game principle and technology

Goodgame Big Farm is about turning a small farm into a big farm. The players take on the role of a farmer and plant fields to harvest fruits, vegetables or flowers. They also breed animals and build houses and decorations for the residents of the farm. At the same time, the players are given tasks through which they can receive rewards.

The production chains are modeled on a realistic cycle. What is produced in the field can either be sold directly or processed into animal feed. The animals produce eggs, milk and finally manure, which is processed into fertilizer. This can be used to fertilize the fruit trees, the leaves of which are converted into humus on the compost. The humus in turn is used to fertilize the field, which closes the cycle. By selling produced goods, the players earn money with which new buildings, seeds and other content can be acquired. It is important to optimize this production and thus make the farm economically self-sufficient and efficient.

Players can form alliances with other players to share and help one another. Projects that can be carried out jointly also enable additional content.

In the course of the game, other farms will be unlocked in addition to the main farm. On the gourmet farm and the flower farm, players can erect buildings and earn additional products and money. To gain access to the farms, players must first have reached a certain level limit and pay entry costs with the game's own currency. The island farm and the winter farm, on which exclusive buildings are built and products are manufactured, are temporarily available as events.

Goodgame Big Farm exists in 20 language versions, including German.

Business model

Goodgame Big Farm belongs to the group of free-to-play games. This means that users can play the game for free and progress. There is an option to purchase gold in the game. Gold is a game currency that players can use to buy certain features at Big Farm - these include speeding up construction processes, buying premium buildings and purchasing special fertilizers, fodder or seeds. Gold is also available within the game at a low frequency. This means that all game content can also be accessed free of charge with an increased expenditure of time.

reception

In 2013 Goodgame Big Farm received the "MMO of the Year" award in the "Best Casual Browser MMO" category.
