Goshūi-wakashū

Goshūi-Wakashū ( Jap. : 後拾遺和歌集 also: 後拾遺集 Goshūishū , dt about. Late gleaning ) is a Waka - anthology from the Heian period of Japan . It was compiled in 1086 on the orders of Tennō Shirakawa (1073-1129). The compiler of the anthology was Fujiwara no Michitoshi (1047-1099). The anthology comprises 20 roles with a total of 1,220 waka. A considerable number of the poems were written by women. The name Late Gleanings comes from the fact that the anthology follows the Shūi-wakashū .
