The Gossi is a lake in the Gourma-Rharous region in southeast Mali . He is also called Mare de Gossi .
It has an area of 5.6 km², is located in the Gourma Desert and is fed underground.
At the lake in the small town of Gossi there is a nationally important cattle market every week. The lake belongs to the habitat of a few hundred elephants in Mali.
Nearby, Thierry Sabine (founder of the Dakar Rally ), Daniel Balavoine and three other people were killed in a helicopter crash on January 14, 1986.
