Gottfried III. von Raabs († around 1160) was burgrave of the medieval burgraviate of Nuremberg from around 1146 to around 1160 .

Life

Gottfried III. came from the Earl of Raab , a noble family of Edelfreien whose name in Lower Austria situated Burg Raab had been borrowed. Gottfried III. was the son and nephew of the first two burgraves, his father Gottfried II von Raabs and his brother Konrad I von Raabs . Although these two had practically exercised the burgrave office since around 1105, Gottfried III. 1154 expressly designated for the first time with the corresponding title burggravius ​​de Norinberg . His successor as burgrave was his cousin Konrad II of Raabs , with whom the male line of the Counts of Raabs died out around 1191/1192.
