Gottschalk from Gabelizo

Gottschalk von Gabelizo (Latin Godescalcus de Gabeli (n) zo ; † after 1117) was the progenitor of the Counts of Jabilinze and Belzig and Burgraves of Brandenburg .

Life

Its origin is unknown. The knight Gottschalk ( miles Godescalcus ) was mentioned four times between 1106 and 1117 as a witness in documents of the Nienburg monastery , including in 1117 by Archbishop Adelgot of Magdeburg .

His sons were

  • Siegfried , 1130 took the Abbey Nienburg and was later by Albrecht the Bear killed
  • Baderich († after 1179), Count of Jabelinze and Dornburg and first burgrave of Brandenburg
  • Alverich von Mehringen
