Gottwald AMK 1000

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gottwald AMK 1000 ( A uto m obile k ran 1,000 tons) was from 1985 to 2007, the only telescope autokran , which had a nominal load of 1000 t.

The crane was built from 1983 to 1985 as a single copy by Gottwald Düsseldorf for the Mainz crane operator " Riga Mainz " or "Autokrandienst Mainz". Originally the crane was planned for a load capacity of 600 t, after further calculations it was then designed for 800 t, but after a few test field strokes it was approved for a theoretical 1000 t. However, this load capacity could only have been achieved with a special, short heavy-duty boom, which was never built. The maximum load capacity on the 62 m long telescopic boom is 350 t. The telescopic boom could be combined with a 93 m long luffing jib or with a 51 m long rigid extension.

The complete crane is distributed over several vehicles. The mobile crane itself is mounted on the "AMK 1000-103" (10 axles, 3 m width), and Gottwald developed a nine-axle mast transporter ("AMK 1000-93 TR") for the telescopic mast to be transported separately . Thanks to a hydraulic mounting bracket for the telescopic mast, it could be bolted to the basic device of the AMK 1000-103 with the AMK 1000-93 TR even on slightly uneven ground without the help of another crane. The four outriggers, each weighing 12.5 t, were transported on a five-axle Goldhofer trailer of type TP 5-62 in special transport holders, specially built by Goldhofer for this crane and also unique.

In 1994 the AMK 1000-103 together with the AMK 1000-93 TR were sold to the Hürth operator Breuer. After the company was wound up in 2000, the crane went to Long Hook ( Taiwan ), where it continued to run in Breuer colors.

After the crane had been for sale at Long Hook for a long time in an extremely desolate condition (for 2 million US dollars), it was bought by Chisun Cranes ( Singapore ) in 2004 and then restored. The mast transporter AMK 1000-93 TR is used at Chisun as a spare part carrier for the crane undercarriage. The front turntable including the double axle was removed from the support trailer and a cranked saddle was welded on at the front, so that it now works as a three-axle semi-trailer for another crane operator in Taiwan.
