GONGO

As GONGO are non-governmental organizations (NGOs) referred to by States are strongly influenced, promoted and financed, and thereby lose its status as the constitutional and governmental organizations, but the public still present themselves as independent, and international advocacy used by States.

The English acronym stands for Government-operated non-governmental organization or government-organized non-governmental organization . Examples include the Islamic World League (Saudi Arabia); National Endowment for Democracy and Freedom House (USA); Institute for Statecraft (UK); the Alexander Gorchakov Foundation for Public Democracy and Nashi (Russia) or the All-Chinese Women's Association . The term originated in the 1980s.
