Government Buildings

The Government Buildings ( Irish Tithe an Rialtais ), Merrion Street, Dublin , houses the Prime Minister's Office, the Council Chamber where government meetings take place, the Treasury and the Attorney General's office.

The building was constructed from 1904 to 1922 and housed government offices and, in the central part of the building, the Royal College of Science.

It was built by architects Sir Aston Webb from London and Thomas Manley Dean from Cork . The building is in the style of the splendid Edwardian Baroque. The facade is made of coarse granite and smooth, light Portland limestone.

The College of Science joined University College Dublin in 1926 , which left the building in 1989, and the building was renovated by architects from the Office of Public Works.
