Gowan Company is an American crop protection product distributor and manufacturer. The company was founded in 1962 by Jon Jessen. He started selling crop protection products in the American Southwest and the Mexicali Valley . From 1978 to 1991, Gowan only sold generics.

In 1994 our own formulation company was founded. From 1995 Japanese active ingredients were also sold. In 2004, Jessen handed over the management to his daughter.

At the end of 2015, Gowan took over the dinitroaniline herbicides business ( trifluralin , benfluralin and ethalfluralin ) from Dow Chemical .
