Graefenmühle (Cologne-Dellbrück)
The Graefenmühle was a watermill in Cologne-Dellbrück on the Strunde .
history
The early days of the mill are not documented. For the first time we learn that the mill was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . In 1784 Urban Wiesdorf is mentioned in a document as a tenant. Towards the end of the 19th century, the Lennartz brothers set up a bicycle factory in the Graefenmühle. Radium Rubber Ltd. was established here in 1905 . with a rubber factory. Until after World War II that served undershot water wheel as a drive. For example, bathing caps, balloons, hygiene articles, inflatable figures, gloves, tennis shoes, boots, etc. were manufactured. In 1978 the old mill had to give way to the new factory buildings, which were converted into residential areas in the 1990s.
