The mills on the Strunde were located along the Strunde between Herrenstrunden and Cologne-Mülheim .

history

Vinzenz von Zuccalmaglio , known as Montanus, wrote in 1846: Accompanied everywhere by mills (...) he (the Strunderbach) sets in about three hours from east to west with a total gradient of 210 feet 30 fruit mills, 3 machine paper factories, 2 hand paper -Factories, 2 powder mills, 8 oil mills, 2 wood mills, 1 wool mill and fulling mill, 2 marble cutting mills and a snuff mill in motion. He had previously mentioned that the Strunderbach, which is more usable on the same stretch of all the brooks in our fatherland, belongs entirely to the Mülheim district. This claim, which still had to be proven, was later popularly converted into the slogan “ Germany's most industrious brook ”. According to Frank Schulte, the first mill to be found in 1251 was a sawmill east of the Rosentaler Weg near the source of the Strunde. Occasionally it is also said that some Strundemühlen were mentioned as early as the 11th century. After all, it is a period of almost a thousand years to this day. Much information will have been lost during this time.
