The Piddelbornsmühle was mostly a grinding mill in the Gronau district of Bergisch Gladbach an der Strunde .

history

A written document from 1745 reports on the beginnings of the mill: "Item die Schleifmühl located at Piddelborn, which inherited alda responsible and founded alda on an old privilege, so granted to the Schleiffers ambt, by virtue of which to eximir from the knowledge ad -." To this time it seems according to the Kellnereirechnung the Office Porz to have been one of the last grinding mills on the Strunde of 1744/45. Because before 1602 it belonged to Christian Schonnenberg, who used it as a full mill . The mill already existed in the Middle Ages, but was reused in the second half of the 18th century. The two-storey building with a gable roof consisted of masonry rubble stones at the bottom and an adobe framework above. The mill was on the ground floor, while the living quarters were above. In 1773 the mill was used for beating oil, peeling barley and grinding tobacco. In 1823 the former tenant Peter Schuhmacher owned the mill, which again worked as a tobacco and oil mill. Schuhmacher had apparently acquired the mill from the estate of Franz Heinrich Fauth. In 1834 a shoemaker worked as an oil miller, his mill had an undershot water wheel and a press. In 1848 the Piddelbornsmühle belonged to Karl August Koch von der Kieppemühle , who raised the slopes from Piddelbornsmühle and Neuer Mühle to Kieppemühle. That was the end of the Piddelbornsmühle. From now on the building was only used for residential purposes. It was demolished in 1976.
