Marker mill
The marker mill was a watermill in Cologne-Mülheim an der Strunde .
location
Near the Stadtgarten pond was the Markermühle, which belonged to the Markerhof - also known as the Merkerhof or Rubenshof - which stood on Frankfurter Straße before it was laid down in 1912. During the excavation work for the BULL high-rise on Wiener Platz , the canalised stream of the Strunde crossing there was relocated more towards the Bachstrasse in order to remove it from the area of the foundation. Today the straightened Bach Canal runs from the railway under Sonderburger Strasse, Jan-Wellem-Strasse and Bachstrasse to the Rhine.
history
The mill had an undershot water wheel . It served as a house and camera mill for the Markerhof and the surrounding neighbors. It is not known how long it existed. The only written mention comes from the year 1854. At that time, the domain rentmaster Joseph Zacharias Bertoldi leased it. Tobacco , pepper and tan were ground .
