Green market

As Green Market one is market in the municipality of Baden near Vienna , Lower Austria referred to the now in the center of the spa town on the Brusattiplatz located. The name goes back to the fact that in addition to meat, fish and other goods, fruit and vegetables were and still are available. The Green Market with its historical market stalls is a listed building .

The market, which has been held on the main square for centuries , was moved to its current location in 1811. At first only the Alleegasse (today: Erzherzog-Rainer-Ring ) was needed for this, but soon the weekly market from Pfarrplatz also came there. Originally this area was a vineyard of the Heiligenkreuzer Hof, which was already outside the old city wall . Since the area of the weekly and vegetable market had to be enlarged due to a lack of space, in 1884 the city needed to acquire this courtyard and garden.

In 1898 there was a political initiative (which was unsuccessful in the vote) to build the planned new city theater (as well as a market hall) on the area (then: Leopoldsplatz ).

In 1936, the square was renamed Brusattiplatz in honor of the mayor of Baden Alois Brusatti (1850–1932) . In 1995 it was connected to the municipal water and canal system. The huts have been partially renovated and the business entrances leading into the Erzherzog-Rainer-Ring have been relocated to the center of the market. The inner market area (sales areas, sidewalks) was covered with clear glass.
