Green egg with bacon: the very best
Green egg with bacon: the very best (original title: Green Eggs and Ham ) is a children's book published in 1960 by Theodor Seuss Geisel , artist name Dr. Seuss, authored and illustrated.
action
The little man "Now-Come-Jack" (in the original: "Sam-I-am" ) wants to convince his friend to try green egg with bacon. However, he refuses, but cannot shake off the friend. The two give each other a wild chase. After all, he gives in and tastes the food that he really enjoys.
Creation and publication
In 1959, Seuss and his publisher Bennett Cerf bet that Seuss wouldn't be able to write a book with only fifty words. In contrast to his predecessor “The Cat with the Hat”, Seuss did not receive a given word list, but was allowed to determine the words himself. In 2010, the Seuss biographer Donald E. Peace discovered that the author used 51 words in his original text.
The book was translated into German by Felicitas Hoppe in 2011 together with “There's a Wocket in my Pocket!” And “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish”, two other books by Seuss, and was titled “Das Allerbeste von Dr. Seuss ”published by S. Fischer Verlag .
The book was number 4 of the hundred most successful children's books in "Publishers Weekley" 2001.
