In malting, green malt is the name given to germinated grains (mostly barley ), which represent an intermediate stage in malt production .

After wetting the grain with water in the crossover of malting the green malt is produced by swelling and germination of the brewer's grains in the germinating or earlier on the threshing floor . Then drying in the kiln that is brewing malt (kilned malt) obtained.
