Grünschnabel (actually Burghardt Wegner ; born January 7, 1960 ) is a German music teacher and children's songwriter .

life and work

Burghardt Wegner was born on January 7, 1960 in a small village near Flensburg. He initially worked as a teacher for music, German and early musical education. In the 1980s he gained stage experience as a front man, songwriter and guitarist in folk rock bands. His work with preschool children in music schools inspired him to compose children's songs, which he has presented in hands-on concerts and on recordings since 1991 under his stage name Greenhorn. He is regularly supported by his three daughters and other musicians. 11 newbie CDs have been released, which he publishes as a composer, lyricist, singer and instrumentalist, mainly under his own label. Furthermore, Greenhorn was seen in the KiKA show “Singas Musik Box”.

Grünschnabel's music is a mix of styles from pop music, rock, rap, folk and classical music. The lyrics are mainly about everyday family topics with children or stories. Apart from Grünschnabel's baritone voice, a mix of acoustic instruments such as guitars and woodwinds and sampled instruments is characteristic of his music. Live, greenhorn often appears as a soloist with guitar, vocals and half playbacks. Guest musicians and children are less common on stage.

The plush parrot Plushbird Erich, or the greenhorn, drawn by Kim Schmidt is typical for the design of the newbie CDs. In addition to his own publications, Grünschnabel's music can also be found on compilations with children's music. His children's choir has participated in several pop productions, including a. DJ Ötzi - "Ring The Bell, Jumpy & Mungo Jerry - In Winter Time".
